The view is seen from the harbour, with laid-up boats in the foreground. Castle Rushen, in the center of the picture, is a well-preserved medieval castle located in Castletown. It towers over the Market Square to the south-east and the harbour to the north-east. The castle is amongst the best examples of medieval castles on the British Isles, and is still in use as a court- house, museum and educational centre. It is a Manx National Heritage site and cultural centre.
