From the Atlas of the city of Toronto and suburbs from special survey and registered plans showing all buildings and lot numbers. Plate 6 pps. 26/27 scale 1000 feet to the inch.

This original map covering the area bordered by Simcoe /Richmond/Yonge /Wellington Streets each building individually numbered and many titled with occupant’s name. Original colour indicates principle of material of construction (i.e. Pink = brick. Yellow = wood.) These large-scale diagrammatic drawings show locations of buildings of the time, as well as their size, shape and construction materials as those were important details for insurers.  The map indicates a building in relationship to its neighbourhood, such as schools, churches, industries. It also shows how a neighbourhood has changed over the years, for this area is today occupied by large scale city developments comprising the commercial heart of Toronto, including: Richmond/Adelaide & TD center, stock exchange, First Canadian & BCE place, Scotia & Royal Bank Plaza, Commerce court.

Richmond St; Church of the Assumption, Bonds Livery Stables, City registry office
Temperance Street.; Ontario Veterinary College, Methodist Church, fire station
Adelaide St:  Royal Museum, S. May & Co Billiard Table factory, Grand Opera House  
King Street North Scotland Chambers, The 'Mall' Building, United Empire Club, J. Damer Shoe Factory, Revere Block, Rossin House Hotel, Ruins of the Royal Opera House, Romain Buildings, Dominion Bank.
Wellington Street: Osborne House Hotel, Munn's Lane.
Bay St: National Club.
York Street: Dr. Thorburn, Toronto Club
